WiST (also called Tactical IP Wireless Local Loop or BLR-IP) is a secured IP wireless network offering high-speed multimedia exchanges to the Information Systems on the Theatre.

The contract has been awarded by the French Army to Cassidian and TDF for the supply of secured WiMAX solutions to be deployed in theatres of operations.

33 communication systems linked to 407 terminals have been delivered to the French Army since 2008.

WiST is a very mobile system as it does not require any infrastructure and can be deployed within minutes.

WiST also provides interoperability between communication systems operating over IP protocol. It can thus enable interfacing of civilian and military systems during international joint operations. WiST is the first large-scale implementation of WiMAX technology for the French Ministry of Defence.
