UAS Center of Competence

Unmanned aerial systems are a key growth area for most air forces. Being highly specialized, however, these systems are used in small fleets and with a low degree of standardisation. Cassidian has therefore developed a concept that optimizes operations, mission planning, logistics, training, data links and payloads that can be used by various systems, thus cutting  fleet and operational costs.
UAS operations

With the Luftwaffe, Cassidian has entered a very successful public-private partnership to operate unmanned aerial systems for surveillance and reconnaissance in the Afghan theatre. The partnership is ongoing. It has been set up in record time and with impressive results, both in terms of system availability and the efficient use of ressources.
UAS Development

Since 2003, Casidian has developed a partly industry-funded UAV system demonstrator platform to simulate and demonstrate highly complex mission scenarios. The technology demonstrator, which has been launched under the name Barracuda, has since flown virtual sensor-to-shooter missions or close air support missions in network-centric environments.
UAS Research

In the Sagitta open innovation pilot project,  Cassidian conducts research in a number of  challenging technology fields related to unmanned aerial systems. Cassidian provides the system  integration and partly funds the Sagitta demonstrator UAV, which is currently under development.
Fleet & Flight  Services

Cassidian offers its partners a wide range of fleet and flight services.  Fleet services include the supply of training aircraft or the full management of flight missions. Within our flight services, we provide a wide range of  missions ranging from air defence training services and ISR missions to target towing and meteorological research flights.
Maintenance,  repair & Overhaul

Cassidian is one of Europe’s leading providers of comprehensive system support and in-service support for the AWACS E-3A, the C-160 Transall and the P-3C Orion. At eight sites in Europe, Cassidian’s  technical services ensure high availability even for aging aircraft fleets.
